Iga Swiatek destroys Danielle Collins in Doha

Iga Swiatek lost to Danielle Collins at the 2022 Australian Open but she got her revenge today by utterly destroying the American 6-0 6-1 in Doha.

Swiatek won the event last year so she's the defending champion. Nobody including her probably expected her to have such a start at this event. Collins played well leading up to this match but she was powerless in this one. She didn't serve well and that was a problem. She did not hit the ball that well either and that was another problem.

Swiatek was dominant in rallies, especially on return which saw her take apart Collins with her superior ball-striking ability. There is not much to add here except that Swiatek seems to be back, the real one and that's trouble for the rest of the field. This was a scary performance as she lost only four points in the first set total. Three on her own serve and only on on the serve of Collins.

She lost 1 of 13 return points in the first set. Incredible.
