"My mum gave me tickets for Christmas": Rune missed opportunity back in 2013 to see Federer in Rotterdam

Holger Rune is playing his first Rotterdam Open but it's not the first time for him in the city as he was here in 2013 when he watched Roger Federer play.

Some ten years ago Rune was in Rotterdam with his whole family and he got tickets from his mother to come and see some tennis. The tickets were a Christmas gift. He recalled that memory during a talk with TennisTV ahead of the event explaining in the video:

“So exactly ten years ago, I was here watching as a fan with the whole family. I remember, my mum gave me the tickets for a Christmas present and it was actually to come and watch Roger (Federer). Unfortunately, he lost in the quarterfinal. But I went anyway and watched some great tennis. So, it’s a good memory to have."

That edition of the event was won by Juan Martin Del Potro.
