Iga Swiatek downs Riske at Roland Garros for 30th consecutive win in 2022

Iga Swiatek is continuing with her domination of the WTA Tour taking down Alison Riske in about 60 minutes of play at Roland Garros 6-0 6-1.

This was a very uneventful match because there was very little excitement. Everybody knew that Swiatek would not have a very difficult time against Riske who has never been a very good clay player. The American tried but she was simply overmatched by Swiatek and her aggressiveness. She brought the heat early and Riske caved under the pressure.

The first set finished after only 21 minutes with a 6-0 score for Swiatek. She was stunning with 11 winners and only 4 errors compared to Riske who had 1 winner and 5 unforced errors. She continued putting pressure on Riske by taking an early break once more and jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Riske barely avoided a 2nd set bagel by winning a game at 0-3.

She had to save several break points in that game but Swiatek also pulled back her level as the win was not in doubt. It was pretty evident that she can flip a switch into a higher great when she needed to. Swiatek continued to play well dozing her level well to finish it off with 6-2. She could have made it quicker but she pulled back the aggression quite a bit in the 2nd set.
