Iga Swiatek scored another solid win at the
US Open beating native
Sloane Stephens 6-3 6-2 to book round three.
Swiatek got to face Stephens in Cincinnati recently and it was a fairly competitive match where the Polish player had to solve some riddles. After successfully passing that test, she knew exactly what to do in this matchup and it was evident fairly early that she had Stephens figured out.
The American did not counter with anything special so it was a rather simple match for Swiatek once she got rolling. It was so dominant that she had break points in every game of the opening set. She used only two of 8 but it was more than enough to get the opening set 6-2.
The 2nd set was even poorer from Stephens as her serve stopped, she continued to miss and Swiatek found an even better rhythm. The body language of Stephens was very defeatist and she didn't even try that hard anymore losing the set 6-2.
Overall a solid performance for the Polish player who is starting to figure out the tennis balls and how to use them to her advantage.
