World number one, Iga Swiatek, has announced that she has withdrawn from the WTA event in Berlin. The 22-year-old is already regarded as the best player currently playing in women’s tennis player in the singles category.
Swiatek recently announced that she will not take part in the upcoming WTA event in Berlin due to fatigue.
"Due to overall physical and mental fatigue after an intense 9 weeks, unfortunately I do need to withdraw from the tournament in Berlin in order to rest and recover," she said.
This development is interesting, considering that the competition in Berlin was seen as a perfect opportunity to prepare for Wimbledon, and Swiatek does not have a great record.
Her best record while playing in London came in 2023, when she was knocked out after losing in the quarterfinal to Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina with a score of 7-5, 6-7, 6-2.
Switek recently participated in the French Open, where she lifted the title after beating Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the final in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.

Iga Swiatek recently won the French Open after beating Jasmine Paolini.
It was her third consecutive title at the Roland Garros. In 2022, Swiatek defeated America’s young tennis sensation Coco Gauff in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-3.
Last year, the reigning world number one got the better of Karolína Muchova with a score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to lift another French Open title.
Swiatek is having a fabulous season. She first lifted the Qatar Open back in February, defeating Elena Rybakina in the final in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-2. She then went on to win Indian Wells after beating Greece’s Maria Sakkari in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-0.
Before the French Open, Swiatek won back-to-back titles in Madrid and Rome, where she defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final on both occasions.
