Naomi Osaka crashed out of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati following a loss to
Jil Teichmann.
The Swiss player played a great match a hung in there when she was down never losing hope or will to fight. Coming back from a 0-2 deficit in the 3rd set Teichmann was able to secure the biggest win of her career. The wild card entry will play in the quarterfinal and after defeating Osaka she could not hide her emotions:
“Literally, I’m shaking right now. I’m very, very happy with this win. I’ve had a very tough year: I started very well and I’ve had many, many injuries. But I felt like I’ve had a good level and I’m happy it’s working out now.”
Teichmann has been playing really good tennis from the start of the event and that showed against Osaka. Losing the opening set was tough but the Swiss player continued battling winning the 2nd 6-3. In her own words, it gave her the confidence and belief that she needed, to come back from an early deficit which she did.
