Ashleigh Barty continued to play well in Cincinnati beating Krejcikova 6-2 6-4 to move to the semifinals.
Ashleigh Barty did not feel comfortable with the court in Cincinnati upon arrival but her comfort level dramatically improved over the past several days highlighted by her play. The Australian player put forward another great performance beating Krejcikova in straight sets.
The start of the match was great for Barty who took a 4-1 lead rather quickly. She later added another one to close out the set with 6-2. On her serve, she did not have any troubles not allowing a single break point. She hit a solid number of first serves but Krejcikova could not hold her own in the rallies.
The Czech player did improve a little bit in the 2nd set but mostly it was Barty being slightly off at the start. Krejcikova took a 3-1 lead and held it until 4-2. After that Barty went on a rampage to close out the set and match with 6-4. It was just an overall great display from Barty.
She clearly did her homework as she said she would the night before and Krejcikvoa simply did not do enough to adjust to what Barty was doing. The Australian moves to the semifinal awaiting either Kerber or Kvitova.
