Serena
Williams shared a glimpse of her hectic life as a working mother, entrepreneur,
and venture capitalist. The former world No. 1 retired in 2022 after a 27-year
professional career, but far from taking a break, Williams decided to devote
much more time to businesses and investments in the stock market, sports,
fashion, etc.
She juggles
all of this with her life as a mother of two daughters: 6-year-old Olympia and
4-month-old Adira, making her days even more demanding, as shown in a video
shared on social media.
In the
video, the 23-times Grand Slam champion demonstrates how she balances her
professional and personal life while working from home. The video was shared on
the Instagram account "Serena Ventures," her investment fund, and it
features Serena working with her baby in her arms. The company was founded in 2014 and focuses its investments on startups with underrepresented founders.
"Sorry,
I can’t join on camera today. I’m literally like shaking this one [Adira River]
to sleep,” said
Serena Williams on the video.
In addition
to her investment fund, which has supported the growth of over 50 companies,
the former world No. 1 also has her own clothing line, S by Serena, and a
jewelry brand, Serena Williams Jewelry.
The
42-year-old retired tennis player commented in September 2023 on how
challenging it is to raise two daughters while dedicating time to her work
projects, especially when one of them fell ill. At the same time, she expressed
her appreciation for parents who face both challenges, much like she does.
“Having 2
kids is definitely not easy. How do you moms/ dads do it so well!!!???
Especially when one gets sick? Mad respect,” Williams said on X (formerly
Twitter).
