America’s young tennis star
Coco Gauff has stated that she
is not going to buy cereal with her picture after feeling ‘narcissistic’. The
20-year-old is regarded as one of the best players in women’s tennis in the
singles category along with the likes of Poland’s Iga Swiatek and Belarus’
Aryna Sabalenka.
Gauff became yet another athlete to be honoured with a
custom Wheaties cereal box. The world number three finally managed to get a box
once she returned from participating in multiple events in China. However, in a
post on her official Instagram account, Gauff explained that she did not like
the experience as she felt a bit ‘narcissistic’. “ngl buying something with
your face on it feels narcissistic asf. I’m not doing this again lol,” she wrote.
Gauff has recently participated in the Wuhan Open, where she
lost in the semifinal to Sabalenka with a score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Despite that defeat,
the current world number has managed to book her place in the WTA Finals. The last
major event in women’s tennis will be organised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for
the first time this year. Gauff, while talking to the media after the semifinal,
as quoted by Daily Express, stated that she was really pleased to finally cement
her spot in the WTA Finals.
“I'm really happy to be qualified,” said the 2023 US Open champion.
“I'm happy to be going there. Honestly, going in it was like whatever happens
happens. Obviously you want to do the more positive thing. I think it's my
third one in a row. It's my first time not playing doubles, so that's going to
be a different experience. But I'm excited. I'm looking at dresses. They have a
lot of things planned for us. I'm super excited. Yeah, I heard it's going to be
great, so I'm excited.”
