Iga Swiatek had a slow start but managed to battle back and beat Jessica Pegula in two sets advancing to the semi-final.
It was a tricyk matchup for Swiatek as Pegula has been playing amazing tennis since the start of the US Open. The key moemnt came after the Polish player chaned racquet midway through the match after which she only dropped two points for the rest of the set.
She was very proud of the effort:
"I'm super proud of myself. My goal basically is to be consistent and play against the top players in the world. I want to push myself further now because I think any of us can win any tournament. Everyone is a really dangerous opponent, especially Jessica with her consistency."
Up next is a match with Sabalenka, a player she beat three times this year and it's a matchup she expects to win again.
