Reports surfaced on Wednesday that Roger Federer was unlikely to play at the Laver Cup and would likely only play the Swiss Indoors in Basel as his return tournament in September but his agent, Tony Godsick believes he will be ready for the showpiece event.
Godsick spoke to Blick who did a piece on the current conundrum surrounding the Swiss legend with water in his knee supposedly and a setback in his recovery. This in turn did not come as good news when it came to those wanting to see the Big Four in London also Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
"Federer has been practicing for some weeks now. He is feeling some pain but keeps trying," he said.
If he doesn't play in London, the plan still remains for Basel to be his next stop with tournament president Roger Brennwald not informed of any issues.
"He's been training for weeks and wants to start in London and Basel," says the 76-year-old. "We'll see at the Laver Cup whether his knee will hold up."
