Marketa Vondrousova was supposed to play the semifinals in Dubai but was forced to withdraw from her match due to an injury.
It's an injury that started a few days ago due to a high load that the Czech player experienced in the past. She played six matches in six days and it took a toll on her. Hours before her semifinal match against Kudermetova, the Czech player withdrew. She explained her decision to do so:
"The injury started a few days ago & I’ve played so many matches here which has aggravated the injury. I’m really sad to leave the tournament this way but I’ve still enjoyed a great week & proud of how I’ve played."
Vondrousova is set to travel to Doha next week but is unsure whether she will play in the event due to the injury. A very crucial part of the season is coming up and she would like to be fully healthy for the clay season. On Doha she said:
"I
will travel to Doha and see how the injury is. I've played six amazing matches this week having come
through qualifying and proud of my performances so it’s unfortunate this
has happened. Health is the priority for me."
