The WTA Tour boasts of a variety of superstars, ranging from experienced veterans to rising stars. Among the latter is Indian native Maaya Rajeshwaran, who has burst into the limelight following her performance at a WTA 125 event in her home country.

The 15-year old has reached the semifinals of the WTA 125 L&T Mumbai Open, the largest professional women's tennis tournament in India. Rajeshwaran becomes the first player born in 2009 to make this stage of a main draw at this level.

Rajeshwaran trains at a familiar academy

The young star is a top 60 junior, and often practices with younger players on the junior circuit. However, her performance at the Mumbai Open indicates she can match the pace of older, more experienced players with ease.

Although Rajeshwaran underwent all of her training in her home country, her prodigious talent drew the attention of scouts from the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca. The teenager is set to move to the Spanish island this month, where she will resume her training.
