"It always happens when you stop caring about it": Tomljanovic reacts after reaching career high ranking while being off court due to injury

Australian tennis star Ajla Tomljanovic has yet to play a match during the 2023 season, but this has not prevented her from reaching a new career high of World No.32 when the WTA Ranking list is updated on Monday.

Tomljanovic, who underwent knee surgery in January of this year, is currently ranked 33rd in the world, a feat she achieved last October.

"Despite being on the injury list and not being able to play for some time, @Ajlatom has moved to a career high ranking of 32," Craig Gabriel tweeted.

Tomljanovic responded: "It always happens when you stop caring about it (face with tears of joy emoji)."

The top-ranked Australian female was forced to withdraw from this year's Australian Open just two days before the event, and proceeded to have knee surgery a few days later. She has yet to give a timeline or update on when she'll be able to return to the court.
