Legendary tennis star Martina Navratilova has once again
raised her objection regarding the participation of transgender athletes in
women's sports.
The 66-year-old, who is termed as one of the best women’s
singles players in the Open era, expressed her views while retweeting a video where
seemingly a male athlete was allowed to participate in the women’s category as
a transgender.
Navratilova ended her illustrious career in 2006 after
playing 32 years at the highest level in both singles and doubles categories.
The Prague-born ended up winning as many as 20 Grand Slams in
the women’s singles category.
Her most successful competition was Wimbledon where she left
the title seven times — 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 and
1990.
On the other hand, her performances have been the least
impressive while playing at the French Open where she won the competition just
two times — in 1982 and 1984.
Navratilova also went on to win a staggering 31 doubles Grand
Slams in her career. Her most successful in the doubles category was the US
Open where she won it nine times — 1977, 1978, 1980, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987,
1989 and 1990.
