Garbine Muguruza did not have a very good Australian Open stay but the Spaniard was happy to see Nadal triumph.
Speaking about her Australian Open experience, Muguruza admitted to being very disappointed by her bad result:
"It was disappointing to lose in the second round in Australia. I
told myself I had to change a few things. I started training even harder
and preparing for this tour on hardcourt. It's always disappointing to lose so early in a Grand Slam, but you have to move on."
She was happy to see Nadal triumph against Medvedev calling the match an incredible final:
"It was an incredible final. I
remember seeing the match at different times, considering that the
course of the match changed constantly. It was an unforgettable match. I
can't watch so many games, due to the weather, training or schedule,
but I couldn't miss this final. It was impressive. Rafa is the perfect
example of what it means to never give up."
Muguruza and Badosa both commended Nadal for the achievement citing feeling inspired as one of the reactions to the final.
