Coco Gauff is hoping for a deep run at the 2022 US Open as the youngster tries to emulate what she learned from Serena Williams.
Like many others, Gauff was inspired by what Williams was able to do and she explained it really well. Williams dominated 3+ generations and it doesn't get much better than that. Coco likes playing in the US because she feels the support from the fans which is a nice change:
“It’s nice to play in the U.S. You definitely feel it with the fans and everything … People come out to support you. I remember even when I was playing qualies here when I was 14, obviously no one knew who I was, but I had so much crowd support on that match.”
She played in the doubles final last year and will try to do that again this year pairing with Pegula. The duo have been one of the best doubles pairings this year and are considered one of the favourites. Her focus is on the singles as she tries to emulate Serena Williams and her dominating way of playing.
