"I think men around my age really struggle to open up; Naomi Osaka helped me a lot with that" - Kyrigos praises Osaka

Nick Kyrgios credited Naomi Osaka for opening up about his mental health which was not the best at times during his life.
Kyrgios took part in the "Conversation with Champions" panel ahead of the US Open speaking about mental health and how he drew inspiration from Osaka and her openness about the issue. The panel featured many greats of the sport including Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal and Osaka.
Kyrgios spoke at lenght about mental health revealing it suffered from the early stages of his career:
"I actually struggled early with mental health and there were times in my tennis career where I was really struggling. I wasn't sure if I was okay to feel that way. But then, actually, I met Naomi. We did a podcast together, and she kind of opened up."
He then shared an important message to all:
"I deal with messages every day with people who are reaching out and I try to respond to as many people as I can. I think men around my age really struggle to open up. Can't feel weak... [Naomi Osaka] helped me a lot with that."

- Having spent weeks and weeks through the years on tour, I can say with confidence that Conchita was (is) one of the very few who realize the surprising level of maturity (and sometimes lack of) which Mirra seems to have developed in such a demanding adult world of Pro-Tennis. While at the same time reminding herself (Conchita, that is) that Mirra is still young and developing mentally and physically. The general public may forget at times, or not at all realize, these modern era young athletes do not have a 'normal' Youth. It's a major sacrifice, among countless sacrifices, these athletes must make.
