The 23-time Major champion
Serena Williams has played well so far at the
Yarra Valley Classic, beating Daria Gavrilova and Tsvetlana Pironkova in straight sets to reach the quarters.
Serena lost nine points in eight service games, never faced a break point and kept the pressure on the other side of the net. Pironkova couldn't follow those numbers, suffering four breaks to finish her journey in the third round and propel Serena through.
"It's nice to get another win. Tsvetlana is a great player, and it wasn't easy, but it was good to come through. Last time it was an incredible three-set match. Today I was like, all right, let's try and focus and learn to do better than last time. I think it is super-convenient, not having to fly from a different city at least and have everything on the same site to get used to the same conditions; if there is one way to do it - this is the one," Serena Williams said.
