'It's pretty frustrating' - Kenin displeased with her Qatar Open defeat to Yastremska

The Australian Open champion is frustrated she's not playing at her best after her triumph in Melbourne

Sofia Kenin lost 6-3, 7-6(4) to Ukrainian teenager Dayana Yastremska in the Qatar Total Open's round of 32.

Kenin has lost three matches since her Melbourne triumph. She's lost to Jelena Ostapenko in the Fed Cup qualifiers, Elena Rybakina in Dubai and recently, Yastremska in Doha.

And the American is frustrated she's failing to reproduce the kind of form that saw her win the 2020 Australian Open title

"It's really frustrating," Kenin said. "Obviously coming off of Melbourne where I felt I was playing the best tennis of my life coming down to playing, not the worst tennis, but not playing the tennis I want to be playing."

Kenin also has some words of praise for Yastremska. She said the youngster performed really well and came up with good shots in key moments.

"She played really well," she said of Yastremska. "I just feel like I can't find my game. I'm not playing the way I want to be playing. So it's pretty frustrating right now.

"Creds to her, she played well, came up with some good shots at those important moments. She just played better at important moments and I just made too many unforced errors. I just felt pretty flat footed the whole match."
