Tunisia’s tennis star
Ons Jabeur was kicked off from the
Centre Court just moments before the
Wimbledon final because of not following
the clothing protocol.
The 28-year-old was due to face Czech Republic’s Marketa
Vondrousova in the final of the third Grand Slam of the year on Saturday.
Before the final began, Jabeur turned up in her black outfit
for a warmup, but she was immediately asked to leave and come back in proper
white clothing which is compulsory to take part in a Wimbledon clash.
It probably was the start of what turned out to be a
horrible day for the current world number six as she ended up losing the final
in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
The defeat will be a painful one because it was the second
time in two years that Jabeur ended up one step short of winning the Wimbledon
title.
Last year, she was beaten by Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in
the Wimbledon final with a score of 3–6, 6–2, 6–2.
It was also Jabeur’s third defeat in the final of a Grand
Slam in the last two years, having also lost to current world number Iga Swiatek
in the US Open grand finale in 2022 in straight sets.
