Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend have completed the Career Grand Slam as a partnership after winning the US Open women's doubles title, adding the only major missing from their collection. The top seeds recovered from losing the opening set to defeat American wildcards Robin Montgomery and Ashlyn Krueger 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 in the final.
The victory gives Siniakova another extraordinary place in doubles history. The Czech has now won all four women's doubles Grand Slam titles with two different partners, having previously completed the feat alongside Barbora Krejcikova. She becomes the first player to achieve the Career Grand Slam with two different doubles partners.
For Townsend, meanwhile, the New York triumph completes her own Career Grand Slam. The American now has four women's doubles Grand Slam titles, all of them won alongside Siniakova, after the pair added the US Open to their Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon victories.
The achievement also completes a remarkable journey for the partnership. After falling in last year's US Open final, Siniakova and Townsend returned to New York as the top seeds and eventually finished the job, turning a difficult opening set into a dominant three-set victory.
Siniakova makes history again
Montgomery and Krueger made the stronger start in the final, taking the opening set 7-5 and leaving the top seeds facing the possibility of another US Open disappointment. Siniakova and Townsend, however, produced an emphatic response, winning the first six games of the second set to completely shift the momentum.
The Czech and American continued to dictate the match in the deciding set, securing an early advantage before maintaining their pressure through the finish. The 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 victory gave them their fourth major together and completed a set of Grand Slam titles that had taken just over two seasons to achieve.
For Siniakova, it was another landmark in a career that has already established her among the most successful doubles players of her generation. Her partnership with Krejcikova produced all four majors before their split, and she has now repeated that achievement with Townsend.
Reflecting on the victory during the on-court ceremony, Siniakova placed particular emphasis on the fight required to finish the job after coming through another Grand Slam final.
"We were really fighting for this one, so I'm just really proud we did it. There were a lot of nerves, a lot of finals, but in the end we managed to do it, and I'm just so proud of our fight, our relationship," Siniakova said. "I hope it's not the end. We will come and play more finals," she added.

Townsend highlights significance beyond the trophy
Townsend also reflected on the atmosphere surrounding the doubles final and the support the pair received throughout their run in New York.
The American has become one of the most prominent doubles players on the tour, but the occasion carried an additional significance given the representation on court.
"For me, being a Black woman here, it's two Black women here in this final. There are two Black men in the semifinals, and this is a phenomenal time for tennis, for inspiration, for representation," Townsend said.
She also praised Montgomery and Krueger, who were competing in their first Grand Slam final after receiving a wildcard into the tournament. "You guys should be really, really proud of yourselves. First time here, getting a wild card and making it to a final—that's something that you should be really proud of," Townsend told the runners-up.
The victory ultimately belonged to Siniakova and Townsend, who have now won every Grand Slam together. Their Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon titles had already established the partnership as one of the most successful in women's doubles, but the US Open completed the final piece.

- I love WTA matches. Seek them out as much as possible on youtube and other platforms I already subscribe to. With that in mind, I do not wish to pay $$$ to a notoriously slippery subscription conglomerate sports broadcaster (like SkySports) just for the privilege to watch it and the tnt/eurosport/discovery subscription went from $$ to $$$+ annually in a blink of an eye. With ATP I have been begrudgingly paying xyz tennis only channel and try to catch up on slams elsewhere (pubs, youtube with USO later on games are just as enjoyable to watch and a smart move to upload on their official channel) but they don't cover WTA. I tried another Tennis dedicated channel that advertised originally as broadcasting where I live, but turned out, they took the money, but didn't cover the matches (only fluff/filler value documentaries). I don't understand why it is so hard to not lock the live matches to one broadcaster only refusing so many people who are happy to pay for the privilege just not through that one entry point. WTA is so exciting for the last few years and they really should capitalise on it as much as possible. And I know it is somewhat naive talking without knowing the inner works, but not being able to find any WTA other than youtube (and then only highlights mostly) is just so frustrating.JayJay11-09-2026
