Top seed Sofia Kenin hopes to rediscover her winning form as play resumes at the 2020 Open 6eme Sens-Metropole de Lyon on Thursday.

The American finally obtained her first win after claiming the Australian Open title, defeating Vitalia Diatchenko in straight sets in the previous round. She faces Romanian qualifier Jacqueline Cristian, who will be hoping to make her maiden WTA tour-level quarterfinal should she overcome Kenin.
Second-seeded Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic has a 1-0 career lead over German opponent Anna-Lena Friedsam. Both women met in Eastbourne in 2016, with Mladenovic winning in straight sets. They will both have a lot to play for, as neither has made a WTA quarterfinal this season.
Russian Daria Kasatkina meets Romanian qualifier Irina Bara for the first time on the WTA Tour. The two clashed once at the junior level in 2012, with Bara winning that encounter in three sets.
Eighth-seeded Slovak Viktoria Kuzmova faces Tereza Martincova in the day's opening match. The two have never met on the WTA Tour and are both vying for their first quarterfinal of the season.
