Kiki Bertens has already began her life away from tennis with the announcement that she is expecting and will become a mother in early 2022.
Bertens reached a career high of World No.4 in 2019 winning ten singles titles on the WTA Tour including in Cincinnati and Madrid.
But in 2021 after a huge downturn in form and injury struggles, she announced that she would end her career at the Olympic Games.
Sticking to that, she lost in the first round to Marketa Vondrousova and lost in the second round in the doubles.
Marrying her husband Remko de Rijke in 2019 who is a physiotherapist, she announced on Tuesday morning with an outline in sand on a beach alongside her husband with the words April 2022 and the caption "Big adventures, start small."
