After having not competed on the WTA circuit since last year's US Open, Former World No.1 Kim Clijsters is set to make her return later this month at the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic.
The Belgian was granted a wildcard entry to the inaugural WTA hardcourt event, which will take place from September 27-October 3 2021.
"Thanks for the wildcard @ChiTennisFest," Clijsters tweeted. "Looking forward to visiting Chicago for the first time and getting back on tour again."
The 38-year old had knee surgery in October 2020 and has been at home recovering and training for her return to tennis. Clijsters retired in 2007, but came out of retirement in 2009 before retiring again in 2012. The four-time Grand Slam champion came out of retirement for a second time in February 2020, but has not competed much due to the Covid pandemic and her subsequent knee surgery.
