After the semifinal match at the Palermo Ladies Open, we know the finalists of the first tournament after the WTA Tour suspension. Anett Kontaveit and Fiona Ferro proved to be the strongest in Palermo as they will fight for the title on Sunday.
In the first semifinal match, the first-seeded Petra Martic faced no. 4 in Italy, Anett Kontaveit. Although the Croat defeated Kontaveit in Dubai this year, it was all about the Estonian on the clay in Palermo. Kontaveit won the match 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 19 minutes.
In the second semifinal match, there was much more action to watch for the Italian fans. However, it was not a happy ending for them. After Giorgi won the first set 6-2, she failed to keep the same level during the rest of the match. Ferro prevailed and won the match 2-6, 6-2 and 7-5 after more than two hours.
