Day two at the Roland Garros started with a match between Kvitova and Dodin and it was the lone match starting as rain prevented the rest of the schedule of starting on time.
Petra Kvitova kicked off her Roland Garros campaign with a match against Dodin under a closed roof as the weather continues to give headaches to players and organisers alike. Despite the unfavourable conditions Kvitova did what she does best and played great tennis. Dodin kept up very well early in the match never allowing Kvitova much on her serve but she faltered as the match went on.
The crucial moment in the 1st set came when Kvitova lead 4-3 and Dodin served. A slightly worse level of play by the French allowed Petra to break her en route to a 6-3 1st set victory. At the start of the 2nd set, the players exchanged brakes before resuming to trade service games. The set ended up being a copy of the 1st one as Dodin kept up with Kvitova for the majority of the set until late in the set. At 5-5 Kvitova finally broke through the defence of Dodin to take a 6-5 lead. She would ultimately end it with 7-5.
Kvitova played a great match losing only 5 points on her first serve as well as having 8 aces en route to a strong victory. The rest of the schedule will continue as soon as the rain stops.
