A shaky start didn't discourage Kvitova to continue playing her game and it ultimately brought her the victory against a solid Petkovic in Berlin.
The start of the match saw a bit of struggle from both tennis players as playing at an airport hangar isn't common. After the initial struggles, it was the native
Andrea Petkovic who took control of the match. She played very good tennis and managed to take a lead in the 1st set which she maintained without any issues.
The start of the 2nd set was an entirely different matter.
Petra Kvitova came out furious and took a commanding 3-0 lead. The players then traded a few games before Petkovic play a great set of two games to make it 4-4. Her joy didn't last long as she failed to close out the match allowing Kvitova to win the 2nd set with 6-4.
The 3rd set was the deciding set played under the familiar rules of first to 10. Kvitova managed to develop some momentum which helped her to jump out to an early lead. Point after point she looked more comfortable and she had no issues maintaining that lead throughout the 3rd set. She cruised an easy victory with a 10-5 3rd set victory. She moves on to the final.
