Leylah Fernandez is trying to build up her form ahed of Roland Garros and she made a good start in Rabat winning her first match there 6-3 6-4.
She faced a player that is not ranked inside the top 200 and for the most part, she did well. It wasn't some impressive showing that will wow many people but it was a straight-sets win so job done. She is looking to pick up some wins before Roland Garros to regain some confidence after a rather poor year so far.
The match itself saw Fernandez take an early break and then give it back right away. She would break once more at the end of the set to take it 6-3. The second set was a bit simpler for Fernandez as she jumped out to an early lead 5-1 but then complicated things a little bit by rushing. In the end she finished it off 6-4.
