Britain’s young tennis star
Emma Raducanu’s best friend has
revealed her interesting habit. The 21-year-old was once regarded as the next big
thing in women’s tennis in the singles category when she won the US Open at the
age of just 18 in 2021.
The victory was even more impressive considering that Raducanu
started the competition through the qualifying round and still managed to go all
the way and lifted the title after beating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the final
in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
Raducanu’s best friend, Shauna, appeared in a video on the social media platform Instagram, where she revealed an interesting habit of the former world number 10. She revealed that one of Raducanu’s habits is to find her friends and then call them to ask about their location. "She goes on
‘Find My Friends’ and checks that all her friends are in their locations. Like
she will actually text you and ask where you’re going," she said.
Ever since winning the US Open in 2021, the Toronto-born star has had a rough time. She returned to the court earlier this year after spending nearly 12 months on the sidelines due to a fitness concern. In the ongoing season, Raducanu has struggled to maintain
her form. Her most recent appearance was in the Nottingham Open where she lost
in the semifinal to fellow Brit Katie Boulter with a score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
Before that, Raducanu was in the news after she decided to
not take part in the French Open, citing fatigue. It is the same reason because
of which she has decided to skip the upcoming Olympics as well.
Her best outing this seasy came in the Billie Jean King Cup
where she played a key role in helping Great Britian cement a place in the
final round after beating France. Raducanu’s next appearance will be in the Eastbourne
International where she will face America’s Sloane Stephens in the opening
round of the competition on Monday.
