Timea Bacsinszky announced her retirement from tennis after a 15-year long career that includes 4 WTA titles in singles and 5 in doubles.
It has been a long and successful career for Bacsinszky who announced her retirement from tennis. The Swiss player holds a career-high ranking of 9 as well as 9 titles won in both singles and doubles. The announcement came on her official Twitter where she wrote:
"Tennis has been the most beautiful school of life and I cannot thank you enough
for that...18 beautiful years during which I dedicated myself to you.
Now it's time for me to turn the page, and write new ones, which I hope will be as intense. I am retiring from the professional sport today but I will never forget the sparkles had in my eyes."
The highlight of her career was winning the silver medal at the Rio Olympics for Switzerland by partnering Martina Hingis.
