BBC tennis analyst Boris Becker explained how Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal fed off each other.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been great rivals for the better part of their careers and ultimately became rather good friends off the court. Nadal skipped over Wimbledon while Federer did not play that well losing to Hurkacz. Neither will participate at the Olympic Games either as Federer revealed he suffered a setback with his knee at Wimbledon while Nadal skipped them.
Asked about Federer, BBC tennis analyst Boris Becker said:
"Roger has earned the right to go out on the terms that he likes. He has been the most popular player ever and taken interest around the world to new heights, giving more to the game than anyone has done before."
Becker also spoke about how Nadal and Federer fed off each other during their careers pushing each other to new heights. He said:
"Roger and Rafa have fed off each other so it will be interesting to see if it has had an effect on the Spaniard when he returns next month in Washington DC. They will be aware that the players around ten years younger are getting better - it is now Novak and then quite a big chasing pack."
