Maja Chwalinska set for immediate return to action after short break post Wuhan title breakthrough

WTA
Maja Chwalinska of Poland at Roland Garros
Maja Chwalinska won't be closing down her season just yet, it has been confirmed with the Polish World No.11 unlike her compatriot Iga Swiatek set to play on this year for the final events.
Perhaps tactically given that Chwalinska is not in a position to qualify for the WTA Finals, she decided like Sonay Kartal for a week off.
She did not play at the Ningbo Open, but as per Polish journalist Dominik Senkowski, it was confirmed that she will in fact play at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. Her manager confirmed it to the journalist who published the news on social media that she will play next week.
She has never played in Tokyo before and it is the last WTA 500 event of the season. Originally featuring Iga Swiatek, the entry list includes the likes of Belinda Bencic, Elena Rybakina, Marta Kostyuk and Elise Mertens and the tournament will kick off on Monday.

Chwalinska set for return to action

She spoke after she won the title about how special it was to seal the title and she will get another bite of the cherry to win another before the season closes.
She defeated Sonay Kartal in the final of the Wuhan Open in a season that also saw her become a Grand Slam finalist at the French Open.
“It means a lot. It tastes very sweet, I admit. I feel like I still don’t realize that I won. So I feel like I just need a few days," Chwalinska admitted afterward.
"But it feels special because after the French Open it was obviously amazing, but then I had some tough moments. I feel like people also were very rough towards me. And it took a toll on me as well. I’m just a human. So I need to admit it was very tough for me, but I kept working really hard. And I’m just very grateful that my hard work paid off today."
