With the 2024
Upper Austria Ladies Linz Open around the corner, tournament organizers have announced
Marketa Vondrousova has withdrawn from the event.
The Linz Open is slated to start on January 29, just a few days after the conclusion of the
Australian Open. Vondrousova was slated to spearhead the field as the top seed, but the reigning Wimbledon champion pulled out from the event, with the reason yet to be disclosed by either Vondrousova or the tournament organizers.
The Czech star suffered an early round exit in Melbourne, falling to surprise semifinalist
Dayana Yastremska in the first round. Prior to the Grand Slam event, Vondrousova had hinted to reporters that she was carrying a hip injury into the tournament. Nonetheless, with Wimbledon champion withdrawing from the Linz Open at such short notice, British No.1 Katie Boulter has been selected to replace her in the main draw.
