Mirra Andreeva joins a remarkable list of players alongside Maria Sharapova and Coco Gauff. The World No. 16 defeated Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International on Friday, reaching the semifinals for the fourth time in her career at just 17 years old.

The teenager has been arguably the standout newcomer in the WTA Tour's new generation. She is currently the only player under 20 in the top 100, having won a title at the Iasi Open and reached her first WTA 500 final at the Ningbo Open, both in late 2024.

This adds to her semifinals appearance at the 2024 French Open, where she stunned Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals before losing to Jasmine Paolini in the semis.

Andreeva has now reached four semifinals in WTA tournaments, joining a select group of players who achieved this milestone at least four times before turning 18. She is just the sixth player in the past 20 years to do so, standing alongside Maria Sharapova and Coco Gauff.

However, she still has some way to go to match the accomplishments of her peers. Sharapova is the most notable name on the list, winning seven titles and reaching two finals before turning 18, including her iconic 2004 Wimbledon victory over Serena Williams.

Other names on the list include Nicole Vaidisova (seven titles, six semifinals), Michaëlla Krajicek (three titles, three semifinals), Coco Gauff (two titles, one final, and one semifinal), and Tatiana Golovin (two finals and six semifinals).

Andreeva faces a tough challenge in the semifinals as she will meet World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. In their three previous encounters, the three-time Grand Slam champion has won twice (Madrid 2023 and 2024), while Andreeva triumphed at Roland Garros (2024). Notably, they have yet to face each other on hard courts.
