Elena Rybakina split from long-time coach Stefano Vukov earlier this Summer with the Kazakh then withdrawing from the second round of the 2024 US Open once again injured.
She will not play this week either in Seoul with Rybakina one of many to decide against playing the Korea Open. But Kim Clijsters believes there is more to come out of the woodwork in regards to her coaching split.
She spoke on Served with Andy Roddick alongside the great American and both were of the belief that that story isn't done by any means and that there is obviously details which are yet to be revealed.
There was murmurings surrounding Rybakina and Vukov's split albeit from social media accounts trying to stoke responses more than anything else. But in the belief of both Clijsters and Roddick, there is something else at play.
"I don’t feel like we know the full story and I hope that it’s something that is a short-term problem or issue if it’s health… we just don’t know what it is but are we just in wait-and-see mode with her? There’s obviously more to the story but we can’t have an opinion on something you don’t know anything about," said Roddick.
"I think there’s definitely – more will come out. He was at the Open. He had a credential. He was there," said Clijsters.
"It’s like weird… It’s all a guess to everybody besides some people who are part of the organization. I think we’ll find out more in the future about it. But at the moment, I don’t think – it’s not going to be anything good."
