After taking a second hiatus from the sport she loves, Naomi Osaka seems ready to hit the practice courts in preparation for a return to the WTA Tour.
The Japanese superstar withdrew from Roland Garros earlier this year to focus on her mental health, which led to her skipping Wimbledon soon after. Osaka returned at the Tokyo Olympics in her homeland of Japan, and participated at the 2021 US Open.
The 24-year old opted to take a second break from the sport after a disappointing performance at Flushing Meadows, where she lost to eventual runner-up Leylah Fernandez in the third round. Osaka claimed to have lost love for the sport, and needed some time away from the spotlight.
However, it appears the four-time Grand Slam champion is ready to return, as she posted some photos on her Instagram account that showed her on the practice courts.
"kinda rusty but feels good to be back 🎾💕 I really want to say thank you everyone for all the kind messages, I really appreciate it ❤️" wrote Osaka.
With the Australian Open a few weeks away, the two-time champion seems ready to return to the courts and defend the title at an event where she has had incredible success.
