Naomi Osaka only played 5 minutes against Savile and withdrew due to illness before her match with Haddad Maia in Tokyo.
Another big disappointment for Osaka who was looking forward to laying some tennis in her native country however things went badly. She was first handed an easy advancement when Saville retired only 5 minutes into their match and now she was forced to abandon plans of playing against Haddad Maia.
Per official sources, the reason for retirement was 'illness'. It was not specific what kind or what it is with Osaka not holding any kind of press conference either.
