Naomi Osaka won't play at the Rome Masters due to a left ankle injury with Nuria Parrizas Diaz replacing her in the main draw.
Naomi Osaka was very excited for the 2022 clay season determined to prove herself on the surface. She played in Madrid and started off well before suffering a lower leg injury that bothered her in the match against Sara Sorribes Tormo. The Japanese player then travelled to Rome but she won't be able to play here due to a left ankle injury.
It's unclear how severe the injury is but Osaka is probably thinking about the French Open in a few weeks so this might be just a precautionary withdrawal.
