Martina Navratilova clarified her views on Djokovic after the topic created some buzz on social media painting the former player as not a huge fan of Djokovic.
Martina Navratilova has been in tennis for decades and as such, she has commented on the sport and what's happening in it for years. Some of those comments have upset people with comments about Djokovic recently popping up again.
In the commentary, Navratilova pointed out that Djokovic generally plays against the crowd unless he plays in Serbia. It angered his fans as she seemed to indicate that he doesn't have many international fans which would be false.
Due to that, Navratilova felt the need to clarify her stance on the Serbian:
"I didn’t change my attitude towards Novak at all. I agree with him on most things, I disagree with him completely on one. Anything else you got? Claiming your bodily autonomy is fine. But you cannot impose that on a country, it just doesn’t work that way. It’s all good."
It was a reponse to a fan who wrote:
"I was really surprised when she changed her attitude towards Novak. I'd have never expected such a thing from her, I mean, she perfectly knows what coming from an eastern country means in the eye of the Western establishment. Maybe she preferred him to leave his own country".
