Former world number one Martina Navratilova has agreed with a
fan’s statement that men are stronger than women.
There has been a long debate in the world of tennis that whether
women players' achievements should be counted as equal compared to men, largely
because male players can play up to five-set matches at a Grand Slam whereas women
players can only play three-set matches.
A fan on Twitter stated that she cannot understand why some
people think it's wrong to say that women are weaker than men. To that, Navratilova
responded by stating: “It's a fact, it's called biology."
Previously, former world number one
Serena Williams also
openly admitted that male players are stronger compared to women players. Her
statement made some fans upset and also started a controversy on social media as well.
Navratilova remains one of the most successful players in
the history of women’s singles tennis having won as many as 18 Grand Slam
titles in her illustrious career.
Her most successful competition was Wimbledon where she ended
up lifting the title nine times — in 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986,
1987 and 1990.
