Nick Kyrgios will not recover from injury in time for the
US Open with the tournament organisers confirming his withdrawal on Thursday evening.
Kyrgios has only played one match this year in Stuttgart and looked below par in the process after knee surgery. But a further wrist injury prevented him from playing any part at Wimbledon or any further tournaments including UTS, Washington, Atlanta and Toronto.
He will now miss another Grand Slam and is set for another ranking plummet in the latest blow for the Aussie who last year reached the Wimbledon final.
Now the likely target will be a return home at the Australian Open, with a wildcard very much likely even if he falls off the rankings entirely.
He has yet to comment on his personal social media accounts with the US Open announcing this news.
