The third-seeded Chicago Smash and fourth-seeded New York Empire advanced to the final of the World Team Tennis.

Philadelphia Freedoms and Orlando Storm were the biggest favorite ahead of the Final Four at the World Team Tennis. Similar to the 2019 season, Freedoms were dominant during the group stage and were the first-seeded team for the play-offs. However, once again they forced the fourth-seeded New York Empire.

And the Empire surprised Freedoms once again this year. Jack Sock and Neil Skupski gave New York Empire the lead after opening men's doubles and they didn't lose it since. Although Sofia Kenin managed to win against Coco Vandeweghe in women's singles, Vandeweghe & Sock were dominant in mixed doubles when they triumphed 5-1 and gave their team the decisive lead.

Philadelphia Freedoms wanted to comeback in women's doubles, however, they won it only 5-3 and after Jack Sock defeated Taylor Fritz in the final men's singles match, there was no doubt that New York Empire will reach the final also this year after winning 22-18 against Freedoms.

There was much less drama in the second semifinal match. Although the Orlando Storm was higher-seeded, they didn't show their qualities in the semifinal match. After Smash won 5-1 in men's doubles with Ram and Nakashima standing on their side of the court, they kept their lead and even increased it.

Sloane Stephens was the only player who lost on the Chicago side when Jessica Pegula defeated her 5-4 in women's singles. Smash then showed their qualities in doubles winning both mixed and women's 5-3. Brandon Nakashima completed a dominant victory by defeating Tennys Sandgren 5-1 and giving Chicago Smash overall victory 24-13.

The final match between the fourth-seeded New York Empire and the third-seeded Chicago Smash will be played on Sunday, August 2nd, at 12 p.m. (ET) / 9 a.m. (PT).
