The Big Three have dominated tennis for many years and a lot of tennis fans don't even remember a time before this era began. Any era comes to an end and this one will be no different and despite fans hoping to see it for as long as possible realistically, we are a couple of years away from it ending. According to Donna Vekic, things will change quite a bit after that.
"In women's tennis all matches are very hard, there are no more easy first rounds. They all play tennis very well; this is why it is so difficult to find a real dominatrix. I think very soon the same will happen in men's tennis too, as soon as Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal stop playing."
It's a fair point by Vekic claiming that tennis will have a lot of parity with no player clearly dominating but with the rise of many talents things could quickly change. Only time will tell and for Vekic time is of the essence. The Croatian was slowly able to make her way back after an injury finishing up with a title in Courmayeur. On that she said:
"It was an extremely difficult path, many things happened: first the injury and then the surgery. The recovery was really long and tiring, but in the end, I ended the season with a success. I am looking forward to 2022, I want to be ready and healthy to return to playing tennis without pain. Title to Courmayeur? It was proof that all the sacrifices were not in vain."
She finished up with:
"It showed me that training and work are still worthwhile. Surely this victory proved to be an extra motivation for me, to think positively for everything to come. My new coach Luka Kutanjac? Luka brought a new air to the team, a positive attitude that helped me a lot from the start."
