Russia’s young tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva gives a cheeky response after being asked about whether it is fun to work with her coach Conchita Martinez. The 17-year-old is already regarded as the one for the future and has already produced some incredible performances on the court.

Andreeva started her Australian Open 2025 campaign on a high after beating Marie Bouzkova in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3. Talking after the match, the presenter asked the Krasnoyarsk-born star whether her coach, Martinez, was fun to work with or not. Andreeva’s response to the question was a cheeky one, and she later admitted that she might get ‘in trouble’ because of the answer. "No, it depends on her mood to be honest," she said. "I would say she’s an okay coach. Oh my gosh, I’m in trouble guys."

The reigning world number 15 further went on to explain her answer by stating that Martinez’s sense of humour has improved while working with her. “I would say now that she has a better sense of humour with me,” she said. "Before I’d say it was, you know, not so good. It was okay. Now when she’s with me everyone is always laughing at her jokes, thanks to me."

Andreeva concluded the discussion by praising her coaching, who according to her has helped her become ‘fearless’ "With her I became closer to being fearless," she said. "Before I would never play a volley in match point. Here I decided why not. Marie was putting every ball back. I was so tired, like: ‘What is this?’. I really like our relationship, because, well, I like to joke around. Sometimes I just, you know, I don't really like to be very serious. I always try to smile and laugh. It's just easier like this. Actually, I was surprised in the beginning that she's also pretty much like me. Since we first started working together, I have noticed that she's always also trying to say a joke or just laugh sometimes. I also like that she's still separating those things when we're on court."
