Jelena Ostapenko is in the semi-final of the
Rome Open after beating
Paula Badosa 6-2 4-6 6-3 in a very competitive match that saw her remain cool.
Ostapenko is a very passionate player who often clashes with players, umpire and everything and everyone. She sometimes can lose her cool and play a dreadful match but she remained calm in this one taking in three sets. The first set was impressive as she demonstrated incredible shot-making outhitting Badosa comfortably.
Not many players have better groundstrokes than Ostapenko has when she's playing really well. This was just that impressive from the former Roland Garros champion. The second set saw Badosa come back with some good tennis as well and it was a 6-4 win for her sending the match into a 3rd set.
In that one, we saw Ostapenko establish control once again and finish things off 6-3. She's looking very good for Paris, the only grand slam she's ever won however one bad match could ruin her hopes. Time will tell if she can do it but she is looking very dangerous right now.
