Jelena Ostapenko is not slowing down as the Latvian put forward another strong showing taking down Anisimova in 3 sets while Gauff battled past Garcia.
Coco Gauff was the first on the court and she took on Halep-slayer Garcia. The match was an interesting one where the American played better for the most part. Garcia did not have the same level as yesterday as the match went on she also experienced some injury troubles. All in all, it was a very solid display by Guaff who won in straight sets 6-2 7-6(3).
Gauff did serve for the match at 6-5 in the 2nd set but lost her serve in another crucial moment. The American is having a lot of issues like that in situations that matter in matches and it's something she needs to change quickly. She can get away with it sometimes but most of the time it comes back to bite her.
Ostapenko has no trouble closing out matches with the Latvian winning another close matchup. She battled Anisimova and it was a very fast-paced match as both player don't enjoy long rallies and both like to attack. The first set lasted about 30 minutes and it saw Ostapenko outhit her opponent quite comfortably. The 2nd set featured the opposite as Anisimova was able to outhit Ostpaenko.
The Latvian came out furious in the 3rd set blitzkrieging her way past Anisimova fairly quickly. There was not much variety as she took an early 4-1 lead. Anisimova pulled one break back to make it 4-3 but Ostapenko closed it out with 6-4.
