Paula Badosa has removed traces of the storm which engulfed her in the past week surrounding the racism story from the China Open and her barbs with fans afterwards.

The argument surrounded her seemingly joking about the row that erupted in the aftermath of the China Open where she was seen pulling her eyes back with a pair of chopsticks. This did not go down well with fans who claimed Badosa was being racist towards Chinese fans.

She received major backlash. She tried to make amends with further posts and it died down. But she shared a post via her Instagram story thanking her coach for not getting her into trouble again.

After responding to fans, she put her account under lock and deleted all of her responses likely as a way of damage control.

"Oh no please don't get it that way. Never thought it would get interpreted this way we weren't even imitating Asian people. I was playing around with my face and wrinkles. I love Asia one of my favorite people and have plenty of Asian friends. They are the kindest," she initially said after the initial post went viral.

She also took to X and said: "Hey guys! Really sorry didn’t know this was offensive towards racism. My mistake. I take full responsibility. This mistakes will make me learn for next time. Hope you understand…. I love you all."

She will hope it will all blow over with Badosa not in action again until at least the Billie Jean King Cup in a few weeks. She and Magda Linette came under fire for posts.
