Paula Badosa is back to a top level as the Spaniard produced a superb effort to take down
Coco Gauff in an impressive fashion beating her 6-3 6-0 at the
Madrid Open.
It was a matchup where Gauff was slightly favoured due to the way she played on clay last year. Still, Badosa is a tricky matchup for her and she actually defeated Gauff in their most recent match before this one and now she did it again. The conditions really suited Badosa and her style of play as the Spaniard beat Gauff from the baseline.
There are some glaring weaknesses in the play of Gauff from the baseline, particularly the forehand and today she wasn't able to control the ball as well as she needed to in order to make this match more competitive. The first set was won 6-3 by Badosa played the crucial rallies better and attacked the weaker 2nd serve of Gauff.
The second serve was even more impressive because it was actually a bagel. Gauff doesn't get many bagels but she'll remember this one for a while. Very dominant from former top 10 player Badosa.
