Spain’s tennis star Paula Badosa gets emotional during her
visit to birth hospital in New York.
The 25-year-old was in the city to support her boyfriend
Greece’s tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas during the ongoing US Open whose
journey in the competition came to an end after suffering a defeat to
Switzerland’s Dominic Stephan Stricker in the second round with a score of 7-5,
6-7, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3.
During the off day, Badosa roamed around the city and
visited the hospital of her birth. While doing that, she got emotional as well.
"25 years ago! 25 year 26 almost… my hospital," she said during the
visit.
Badosa is continuing her recovery from a back injury that
she sustained during the second round against Marta Kostyuk at Wimbledon 2023.
It is because of that she had to retire in the match and
that injury has also stopped her from participating in the ongoing US Open.
Badosa will be hoping that the ongoing lengthy injury layoff
will help her return to action stronger than ever as she continues her journey
towards winning her first major title.
